Slack is the software we use to communicate as a team! It's built for productivity in professional settings, allowing mentors and students to contribute to live discussions about the robot, workshops, or anything else robotics-related. We've even got a channel for tutoring help! Download the app on your mobile device or desktop, or simply login via any web-browser like Google Chrome or Firefox. If you need an account, e-mail robotics296@loyola.ca!

Discord is the software we use for non-robotics related chit-chat and team socials. It's moderated by the student leadership, but mentors occasionally hang out there too. Log-on and suggest a game of Among Us, if you'd like! You can also access the 296 Minecraft server there; just ask. Note that you must be a member of the robotics team to join!

In this tutorial created by the 2020 IT Lead, Lucas McGravie, you'll learn how to use the remote desktop sharing software TeamViewer to take control of a computer in a far away location, or how to let someone else far away control your computer. This is especially useful for debugging IT/computer/software related problems, as well as assisting students with how to use unfamiliar software. In the case of robotics, this may range from 3D modelling (Autodesk Inventor or GrabCAD Workbench, etc.), to programming (GitHub or VisualStudio, etc.), to media (Photoshop/GIMP or Adobe Illustrator/InkScape, etc.)
Specifically, this quick tutorial will show you how to install and get a basic connection established. More to come! -
In this short tutorial created by the 2020 IT Lead, Lucas McGravie, you'll learn more about how to use TeamViewer. Specifically, in this video we'll cover scaling the resolution, optimizing for speed, etc.
